3:58a - W00t!
Well... my new job is gonna prove most interesting. I'll be doing Quality Management.
Let's play "What do we know." Just 'cuz I'm feeling a mite sarcastic.
I've known about having this new job for a little over a week now so, logically speaking, the people that actually hired me also know this.
This should seem fairly elementary.
What I, in my infinite naivete, think should ALSO be totally obvious is the expectation that by TODAY, MY FIRST DAY AT MY NEW POSITION, I should have my office and workstation ready and waiting for me to move in.
Right? Is this reasonable to expect?
So then, why exactly did my new co-worker (she worked beside me on the phones, and got the second QM position) have to spend all of today running around calling a half-dozen people to get our offices squared away?!?!
And we STILL don't have the workstations yet. So... I've got an office (YAY! An office! Mine! WOO!) but no computer... no... com- pu- TER! The ONE thing that I need to actually DO MY JOB... and I've still got to wait at least another day before I get it.
So there's two full days lost. Now sure, in a multi-million dollar company, a couple days at $15 per hour or so isn't a huge loss.
But thinking somewhat logically. If this happened to me and my co-worker, it probably ALSO happens to many other people that change positions too.
So just how many hundreds of thousands of dollars is this company wasting because of the short-sightedness of management?!?
Fucking idiots I tell you.
Not to mention that so far what I've seen of this QM department, I'll probably end up pulling their collective heads out of the gigantic sphyncter they're rammed into.
Maybe its just me, but in a company like this, a department like this doesn't assure tech support quality for the manager's peace of mind. Fuck NO! We're here to ensure that quality FOR THE FUCKING CUSTOMERS.
I swear. I just need to clone myself into a few thousand people and run a company correctly from all departments.
Yay. So I've got another jihad to wage against managers.
However, I am EXTREMELY happy that I'm no longer the lowest man on the totem pole and that I'm not actually SPEAKING to customers any longer. At least not on a regular basis. I'd still like to take the occasional day of calls just to ensure that my own l33t sk1llz don't atrophy.
I'd also like to say that there are several of our senior managers that just got through stepping up to the tech floor and taking a day of calls. That rocked totally. I've got huge respect for those guys, because they're gonna make this company greater than it ever was. Those are the guys, among several others, that actually make me proud to work at this company, even if I have to whip a few others into shape.
So no, its not ALL bad. ;-)
Though, the new schedule is just gonna kill me. Morning shift. Ugh.
current mood: tired current music: Humming of my happy fans. (1 comment |comment on this)
