9:20a - Computer Upgrades
It looks like sometime this summer I'll be able to finally do the computer upgrades I've been so desperately wanting.
I'm really happy with how long my 1.4 GHz Athlon has lasted. I bought it before AMD switched back to using their performance ratings, back when 1.4 GHz WAS the fastest chip AMD made. Honestly though, 3.5 - 4 years is a pretty damned solid lifespan for a gaming machine. It's only been recently that system performance has really impeded my gaming.
Thankfully, the next machine looks like it ought to maintain a similarly long lifespan, especially with the existing motherboard support of the upcoming multi-core CPUs.
So, here's what I'm looking at for upgrades with their current PriceWatch prices:
