8:12p - This week in movie review.
In the past week, I saw these:
The Nines, which is probably the most intelligent movie in the last couple of years. It raises some really neat questions. The format of the movie was also fascinating and highly effective at delivering the idea in an entertaining way. You all should go rent this. Even you, izzbot.
The Comebacks, which was exactly what I expected it to be. A stupid farce about recent other movies. A few of the jokes were truly funny, but most of the movie was forgettable.
I'm about to go watch Boy Eats Girl, so I'll get back to you on this one. The previews make it seem interesting, especially if you like new ideas about zombie movies.
Other than that, I just watched a decent Superbowl and have also been working my way through Deadwood, which is fan-fucking-tastic. Definitely a must-see for anyone remotely interested in the time period.
Also, I've decided that its been far too long since I saw any good anime. The last stuff I watched was 2-3 years ago. So, I've snagged D. Gray Man, Night Head Genesis, Zombie Loan, Heroic Age, Ghost Hound (One of Masamune Shirow's new series), and Rental Magica. I'll let ya know if any of these pan out. Last night, I watched the first episode of Heroic Age, and that looks like a really promising sci-fi mecha anime.
If any of you are interested in checking these out, let me know. We can do an anime night.
